Silver Alert issued for missing ECSU student

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) – A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing, endangered Elizabeth City State University student.
22-year-old Terry Mike Leathers II is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, according to the alert from the N.C. Center for Missing Persons.
According to the Silver Alert, Leathers is a black male, 5’7” tall, weighing around 130 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a dark blue and black shirt and light colored jeans.
He was last seen Thursday, Sept. 26 at an ECSU dormitory, according to the university.
Students at ECSU told WAVY.com of their deep concern for the welfare of Terry Leathers.
“I just hope he’s okay,” said Jessica Richards. Ryan Daye said he had a public relations class with Leathers before he was reported missing. “It’s really surprising. It happened out of nowhere The day that he went missing we had a class with him and I saw him. It didn’t seem like anything was wrong. I don’t know. It’s just a crazy situation.”
ECSU Interim Police Chief John Manley said the university is using every available resource, including the Elizabeth City Police Department, to try and find Leathers
