CANTON, GA (CBS ATLANTA) – Police are still searching for Deborah Lee Crawford, a 41-year-old black female who has been missing since August 19.
According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford, who lives in Cobb County, was originally reported to have been dropped off by a friend at a Kmart in Canton.
Authorities have since learned that the friend who led police to the Kmart had lied, and said Crawford was instead left at a motel off I-75 at Cass-White Road in Bartow County.
Police say the friend who gave false information was arrested by Canton police for lying during the investigation.
Crawford’s son, Floyd Crawford, is heart broken.
The family gathered along side human rights group New Order on Sunday afternoon to pray for her safe return.
The family said while Crawford has some mental disorders including depression, it’s for her to just disappear and not contact them.
“She would give you the clothes off her back. She would give someone a place to stay. She’s good person,” said Crawford.
She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a green shirt.
