Missing: Morgan Martin, 17, Fl

A pregnant Florida teenager has disappeared after telling her mother  she was stepping outside to tell the father of her unborn baby that an  ultrasound indicated the baby was a girl.
Morgan Martin, 17, disappeared July 25 in St. Petersburg, Fla.   Morgan’s mother said the baby’s father, whom Morgan met on Facebook, is  26 and from Kansas City. Police and Morgan’s mother declined to name the  man.
The teenager was last seen about 12:30 a.m., her mother Leah Martin told ABCNews.com.

Mrs. Martin said she had warned her daughter against seeing the man because he was not on good terms with Morgan.
“He said he was going to come over and talk to her and so she told  me,  ‘Mom, I’m just going to go talk to him,” Leah Martin said. “I told  her, ‘Morgan, you don’t want anything to do with him … You’re a kid. If  he gets caught with you, he’s going to jail.’”
The mother said Morgan’s sister, Sierra Cahill, 20, was the last to  see Morgan step outside. When Leah Martin woke for work at 5 a.m., she  noticed her daughter had left the lights, television and air  conditioning on. She figured Morgan was probably still outside talking  with the baby’s father, but didn’t see any cars.

A few phone calls from Cahill followed saying Morgan was not  returning calls and was not on Facebook, something Leah Martin said was  very rare for the teen.
Police say they have no indication Morgan Martin left of her own  accord. The fact that she didn’t take anything with her and was dressed  for bed “has caused us to believe this is not a normal set of  circumstances,” St. Petersburg police spokesman Mike Puetz said Friday.
“There’s a difference between a runaway situation and something like  this, where you have a set of circumstances suggesting that she has just  stopped communicating with all her friends,” Puetz said.
Morgan has run away from home before, Puez said, but always returned soon after.

Puetz said the baby’s father and Morgan were communicating up to her disappearance.
Police are not certain a crime has taken place and have not named any suspects.
Morgan is 5-feet-2  and weighs around 170 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Morgan Keyanna Martin can call police at (727) 893-7780.

Congrats James Martin!

17-Year Old James Martin Graduates from College w/ 3.9 GPA

At 17-years old, James Martin has graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in molecular biology!

Not only is he the youngest of his graduating class; James is also the most accomplished.

He graduate with a 3.9 GPA!

From NewsOne:

“It’s funny, because I have a really young face, so they all knew this kid doesn’t belong here,” Martin said. “They end up seeing you almost as a peer because you study like they do, you work like they do and at the same time, you’re interacting.”

While Martin is clearly a super-talented young man, his mother, who home-schooled him as a child, admits that her son was not always so studious. “His early years, he tended to be a little lazy,” said Joan Martin. “He daydreamed a lot and then, about 12 or 13, he started getting really serious.”

Martin was so serious that his improved habits landed him on FAU’s campus at 14-years-old. It was a successful journey that didn’t go without its challenging moments, however. “It’s been some nights, man,” he said. “It’s been some nights where I’m just like, ‘Ugh!’”

James hopes to attend graduate school and recieve a PhD.

Missing: Alexis Murphy, 17, Nelson County, Va *Update*

A police spokesperson says that since Murphy’s car was located in Albemarle, the case no longer fits the criteria for an Amber Alert.

According to Virginia Amber Alert’s official website, activation of the Virginia Amber Alert plan requires five elements to be fulfilled:

1) The abducted child must be 17 years of age or younger or is currently enrolled in a * * * secondary school in the Commonwealth, regardless of age, and the law enforcement agency believes the child has been abducted (unwillingly taken from their environment without permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian).*

2) The law enforcement agency believes the missing child is in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.*

3) A law enforcement investigation has taken place that verified the abduction or eliminated alternative explanations.*

4) Sufficient information is available to disseminate to the public that could assist in locating the child, suspect, and/or the suspect’s vehicle.*

5) The Child must be entered into the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) missing person files as soon as practical.

If all of the criteria is not met, the Amber Alert plan won’t be activated.

More info on Murphy’s disappearance:

Alexis Murphy, a 17-year-old Virginia girl, has been missing since Saturday after tweeting “Burg Bound” to her more than 11,000 followers, CBS affiliate WUSA reports.

“She was en route to go shopping in the Lynchburg area,” said William Mays, a detective with the Nelson County Sheriff’s. “This was the last time she was seen by her family.”

Deputies with the sheriff’s office, the Virginia State Police and agents working with the FBI are all working to locate Murphy, of Shipman, the station reports.

“Alexis is very close to her family,” said Mays. “She has never disappeared in the past. In fact, she was looking forward to playing in volleyball tournaments later this week and excited to start her upcoming senior year in high school.”

Worried family members gathered at a local elementary school Monday night, where investigators set up a command post and held a brief press conference asking for the public’s help.

“This includes anyone who may have seen Alexis in her white Nissan Maxima…or anyone who has had any contact with her after 6:00 PM on this past Saturday,” Mays said.

Investigators spent Monday searching houses and wooded areas in Shipman, while two state police rescue helicopters searched by air. Detectives did not take questions during the press conference. Anyone with information is asked to call 434-263-7050.
